Conditions We Treat

Ear Infections
Ear infections or fluid in the middle ear is one of the most common ear conditions we treat. Ear infections happen when the eustachian tube, which drains fluid from the middle ear, gets clogged.

Ear infections are painful and can cause the eardrum to rupture. They may also cause problems with hearing or balance. Children and adults whose ear infections keep coming back may need surgery. In cases where surgery is necessary, doctors insert ear tubes.
Nose Conditions

Severe nose conditions can cause discomfort and pressure in the face. Going far beyond symptoms of cold or allergy, they may also cause long-term discharge and fever.

Our doctors first try conservative treatments. Sometimes surgery is necessary for severe nose conditions, including:

  • Chronic rhinosinusitis (also called sinusitis) or sinus inflammation
  • Deviated septum
Throat, Head and Neck Conditions

Throat conditions can affect breathing, sleeping and eating — processes that are vital to your quality of life. Our doctors have the expertise to help find the right treatment for you. Sometimes that means surgery. Some of the many conditions we treat are:

  • Tonsillitis
  • Tonsil stones
  • Mastoid cell conditions and cholesteatoma
  • Thyroid problems
Esophageal Conditions
Your esophagus is the tube in your throat that connects the mouth to the stomach. Surgery on the esophagus is highly specialized. Our head and neck team is specially trained to focus on these complex problems.

Ear Nose and Throat ENT Surgical Procedures

Tympanostomy (Inserting Ear Tubes)
When people have recurring ear infections, doctors will sometimes recommend tympanostomy tubes in their ears. Sometimes these are called myringotomy or ventilation tubes.

Ear tubes help drain fluid from the middle ear. The tubes help prevent infections and help people hear better if fluid has affected their hearing. Children most often get these tubes, but sometimes adults need them.

Ear tube surgery can be done in the hospital or sometimes in an outpatient clinic setting. You or your child can go home the same day, but the procedure does require general anesthesia. Under general anesthesia, you (or your child) will be asleep and won't feel pain during the procedure.

The doctor makes a small opening in the eardrum and places the tube in the opening. Usually kids go home within two hours of the surgery. Your doctor may prescribe ear drops to relieve pain or ward off infection after surgery. Call our office if your child is in pain or has a fever or discharge.
Throat, Head and Neck Surgeries

Throat, head and neck surgeries treat a wide variety of problems and often involve reconstructive surgery. Our ENT doctors and facial plastic specialist offer you this comprehensive treatment, including:

  • Tonsillectomy
  • Thyroidectomy
  • Laryngoscopy
  • Mastoidectomy
  • Esophageal procedures
Surgeries for Nasal (Nose) Conditions

Some of the most common surgeries we offer are:

  • Balloon sinuplasty (sinus surgery)
  • Septoplasty for deviated septum
