Our Community Our Health Care

A thriving local hospital is at the heart of a healthy community.

Since we arrived in 2017, UnityPoint Health has worked to transform the model of care in Marshalltown to be more sustainable. All the while, we've ensured that primary care will thrive and emergency care will remain close to home. Our commitment to the community included the expansion and building of a new, $38.4 million hospital that open in spring 2022.

In addition, local leadership was established with Shari King as Administrator and Jen Arneson as Director of Nursing. Also, UnityPoint Express, the walk-in urgent care clinic, is building a new facility that will be more centrally located.

Quality Care, Close to Home

The expanded hospital consists of three additions to the medical park and is conveniently located at the intersection of Highways 14 and 30:

  • Hospital Addition – this project created 65,000-square-foot hospital space over two floors. It features a 16-bed med-surg unit, a 12-bed emergency department and a four-bed observation unit.
  • Clinic Addition – this project added 23,000 square feet and houses two clinics spaces – the Multi-Specialty Clinic and an third-party clinic to be determined later.
  • EMS Building – this free-standing garage covers 5,000 square feet and houses a fleet of five ambulances and support staff.

We Need Your Support

Now, your non-profit local hospital invites the community's support in more ways than one.

First, we're asking people to keep their care local whenever possible. Choosing local for primary care, specialty care, inpatient services and surgical services whenever possible matters for today and for the generations to come.

Second, we're inviting the community to consider investing their time, talent and treasure in this once-in-a-century revitalization project.
